Guidelines
This is a summary of the most important aspects of the submission rules. For more details download the submission form here.
Please read carefully Rules 2 and 11.
- RULE 1 Shoot your short film entirely on iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad.
- RULE 2 The short film MUST be produced exclusively for Indiefone™ Film Fest. It must be an original production. It must NOT be a short film with any previous publication or exposure to contests- film festivals- or social networks. It may not infringe on the copyright, trademark or other rights of any individual. You may NOT show the video to your friends on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube or any social network prior to Indiefone™ Film Fest publication. (Read Rule 10.)
- RULE 3 The length of the video may NOT EXCEED 5 minutes.
- RULE 4 You may capture the audio in a separate audio recorder or use the audio from the iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad itself.
- RULE 5 Do not include ending credits in your short film, submit the credits as a text document.
- RULE 6 Foreign short films are welcome in any language, but you will be required to add the subtitles in English.
- RULE 7 Send your short film files in full resolution using H.264 .mov – DO NOT compress your videos on .mp4 - Custom compression will be added by us.
- RULE 8 An additional simple and short 2-5 minutes “Making of…” is required. You may use any camera to prove that your project was shot with an iPhone, iPod or iPad.
- RULE 9 No nudity, no profanity, no extreme violence and no racist content is allowed.
- RULE 10 You CANNOT use “Copyrighted Material” unless you have documentation to prove you have legal authorization. Also, you may require the “Actor Release Form” signed and submitted by the actors or people who are in your short film.
- RULE 11 If your are a Top 7 finalist it will play exclusively on Indiefone™ YouTube channel and their social networks for a period of 6 months (January 01, 2013 to June 01, 2013). This MEANS you may NOT distribute your short film for any reasons, including submission to other film festivals, nor publish, broadcast or podcast your short film in any place during the 6 months exclusivity period. However, you MAY publish your short film by embedding from Indiefone™ Youtube channel. AFTER the 6 months exclusivity period- filmmakers MAY submit to other festivals- post on any social networks or otherwise dispose of the film.
